Possible SWAP Event – Saturday, Mar 7
Good afternoon,
It has been a little while since I last sent an email out to everyone, and I must admit I am a bit disappointed that I am sending a potential SWAP notification this early in March—but here we are.
On Saturday, March 7, there is the potential for a SWAP event due to weather building to the west that could impact both the West and North departure gates. I ask that everyone please plan accordingly to help mitigate potential delays departing the field to your destinations.
There are times during these events when high-level routes may be stopped while lower-level routes remain available. Please keep this in mind, as the tower may ask if you are able to accept a lower-level route to help keep traffic moving.
As always, please ensure you are checking the most up-to-date weather information and NOTAMs, and continue to assist ATC by providing timely PIREPs whenever possible.
If a SWAP event does occur, there is a possibility it could impact how we sequence departures from the ramps here at TEB. I ask that the FBOs be prepared for potentially slower taxi-out times if the operation becomes constrained. From the tower, we will do everything we can to keep traffic moving as quickly and safely as possible, but SWAP events can often be unpredictable in terms of their overall impact.
I hope everyone has a safe and uneventful weekend. I have a feeling this may be the start of an interesting SWAP season as we move further into the year.
Thank you all for your continued cooperation during these events.
