SWAP Impacts and Departure Gate Expectations

Good morning,

We are starting the day in SWAP conditions, and as the day progresses, I expect to see additional impacts to the west and north departure gates.

Please keep in mind that if your departure gate becomes stopped due to weather, we will do our best to provide reroutes to your destinations as they become available. If low-level routes are a viable option, we will advise as soon as possible in an effort to keep departures moving off the field.

The weather will not only impact TEB but airports throughout the New York District, meaning many facilities will be utilizing the same available gates. As a result, this may lead to increased miles-in-trail restrictions for any gates that remain open.

We ask that all users review the most up-to-date weather and NOTAM information, and as always, please assist ATC by disseminating PIREPs in a timely manner.

Additionally, we ask that all FBOs keep the tower or airport operations informed of any potential gridlock situations on the ramps. Depending on departure restrictions and gate stops, the tower may have difficulty moving aircraft off the ramps, which could impact ramp space and your operations.

From the tower side, we will continue to do our best to move aircraft off the ramps as efficiently as possible and to issue reroutes as quickly as they become available to keep everyone moving.

Thank you for your continued cooperation during these SWAP events. It’s hard to believe we are already seeing these types of impacts this early.
