Operational Advisory – VIP TFRs, FIFA World Cup Final, and Weekend Operational Impacts (July 17–19, 2026)

I am sure everyone is aware that there will be significant special event activity in the area beginning Friday afternoon, July 17, 2026, through Sunday, July 19, 2026. During this period, multiple VIP Temporary Flight Restrictions (TFRs) will be in effect, each impacting operations at Teterboro Airport differently.

I ask that all airport users ensure they are familiar with the most current NOTAMs and comply with all applicable VIP TFR restrictions throughout the weekend.

On Friday, July 17, the initial New York City TFR will be in effect. During this phase, Teterboro will continue to operate normal IFR arrivals and departures.

Later on Friday, the TFR will transition to the Bedminster TFR, which will remain in effect throughSunday, July 19. During the Bedminster TFR, all westbound general aviation IFR departures from Teterboro will be required to utilize the COATE, GAYEL, or WHITE departure gates to route around the restricted airspace. Please plan accordingly, as concentrating westbound departures through these gates may result in increased traffic volume and additional departure delays.

In addition, weather is currently forecast for the area on Saturday, July 18, increasing the likelihood of a Severe Weather Avoidance Plan (SWAP) event. Should a SWAP be implemented while the Bedminster TFR is active, the limited departure gate availability may result in even greater delays for aircraft departing Teterboro.

On Sunday, July 19, the VIP TFR will relocate to East Rutherford (MetLife Stadium) for the FIFA World Cup Final. While Teterboro Airport will remain open and operational, significant restrictions will be in place.

From 1300L to 1900L, all arrivals and departures operating to or from Teterboro must receive TSA screening. Aircraft that have not completed the required screening will not be authorized to arrive or depart TEB during this period.

Please note that TEB Air Traffic Control is not responsible for scheduling TSA screening appointments. It is the responsibility of each operator to coordinate screening.

Departure screening at Teterboro will be available at:

• Atlantic Aviation
• Jet Aviation
• Signature Aviation – South
• Signature Aviation – West

Gateway screening locations for inbound aircraft are:

• Fixed-wing aircraft: PHL and ABE
• Helicopters: LDJ

During all phases of the VIP TFRs, please ensure you remain in continuous communication with Air Traffic Control and are operating on the assigned beacon code. Remaining “squawking and talking” is critical to maintaining safe and efficient operations within the restricted airspace.

Users are also encouraged to remain current on all applicable NOTAMs and monitor weather conditions throughout the weekend.

Please be aware of the runway configuration restrictions that will be in effect during the MetLife TFR:

• South Flow: Arrivals and departures will utilize Runway 24.
• North Flow: Arrivals will utilize Runway 6, with departures on Runway 1 or Runway 6.
• Arrivals to Runway 1 will not be permitted during the MetLife TFR.

Additionally, I ask all operators to ensure they have confirmed parking reservations with the FBO of their choice. Proper planning will help minimize ramp congestion and allow both airport operations and ATC to maintain safe and efficient traffic flow throughout the weekend.

FBO Managers: As you are aware, this weekend coincides with the FIFA World Cup Final. Both Airport Operations and ATC have been requesting updated reservation counts as planning continues. To ensure we have the most accurate operational picture, I ask that each FBO provide your current reservation numbers to either Airport Operations or directly to me via email or telephone. With the additional TSA screening requirements and multiple VIP TFRs, having the most current information is critical to effective planning and resource management.

Throughout the weekend, please continue to keep both the Tower and Airport Operations informed of any potential ramp congestion or gridlock issues so that appropriate traffic management procedures can be implemented as early as possible.

This event has been in planning for well over a year, and I sincerely appreciate everyone’s cooperation, professionalism, and patience as we work together to ensure a safe and successful operation.
