TEB Operations – UNGA TFR, NYC VIP TFR, and Potential SWAP – Sept 21, 2026

Good morning,

As a reminder, the UNGA TFR will remain in effect throughout the week. Please ensure you are reviewing the most current NOTAMs to remain informed of all applicable TFR restrictions and compliance requirements.

An additional NYC VIP TFR is expected to go into effect this afternoon and remain in place through tomorrow night. While the NYC VIP TFR is active, all aircraft operating within the TFR must be SQUAWKING and TALKING. Please plan accordingly and ensure you are familiar with the most up-to-date NOTAMs and applicable operating requirements.

TEB will remain operational throughout the TFR periods.

Potential SWAP and Weather Impacts

In addition to the TFR activity, there is also the possibility of a SWAP event this afternoon due to weather moving eastward from the west.

As with any potential SWAP event, I ask that all users:

• Monitor the most current weather information and NOTAMs.
• Assist ATC by providing timely PIREPs when appropriate.
• Refrain from filing multiple flight plans for the same operation, as this can slow the route approval process and create confusion in the tower cab.
• Understand that if low-level routes are available to your destination, the Tower will advise you of those options when appropriate.

FBO Reservations and Ramp Coordination

With the expected high arrival demand, TFR activity, and potential SWAP event, I anticipate the ramps at TEB will be very busy.

Please ensure you have a reservation with the FBO of your choice to help guarantee parking availability upon arrival. If your plans change, please notify your FBO as soon as possible. Changes to arrival or departure plans can significantly impact ramp availability and the FBO’s ability to manage parking.

I also ask that all FBOs keep both TEB Operations and the Tower Cab informed of any potential or developing gridlock situations. Early communication will allow us to work together to identify potential issues and implement measures to help mitigate them.

If we enter SWAP, aircraft may take longer than expected to move off the ramps due to weather and associated operational constraints. We will do our best to move departing aircraft off the ramps as efficiently as possible to make room for inbound arrivals; however, the weather will ultimately dictate what we can safely accomplish.
